Fantasy Football Files - Gameweek 34

Updated: Apr 24, 2019

I thought last week was bad, but this week took the biscuit. If this was not my worst week so far, then it has to be penultimate worst, because this was diabolical to say the least. After last weeks' mishaps, I decided to take another 8 point hit, to get my team back to what it was looking like in GW32, and you can guess, it did not work. Out went Ryan Fraser (Bouremouth), Joshua King (Bournemouth) and Salomon Rondon (Newcastle). Back in came;

Nathan Redmond (Southampton), Raul Jimenez (Wolves) and Sergio Aguero (Man City).

In goal, Lukasz Fabianski, was beaten by two Paul Pogba penalties, so only gained me a solitary point, as he only had a few other saves to make as West Ham dominated the game and should have at least got a point, though they had enough chances to get all the three points. At the back on Saturday, Jan Bednarek, got 2 points as Southampton won 3-1 at home to Wolves. On the Sunday, Crystal Palace were beaten 3-1 by Man City, which left Aaron Wan Bissaka, with just one point. In Sundays other game, Liverpool won 2-0 at home to Chelsea, so Andy Robertson got me vital clean sheet points.

In midfield, is where I made my huge error, as Youri Tielemens, had been on fire, assisting or scoring in his last four matches for Leicester, I started him and left Southampton's Nathan Redmond on the bench. So of course, as I have been on a downward spiral after a got run; Redmond scored 2 first goals against Wolves, and in the earlier Friday night game, well Tielemens did not do much. He created a great chance towards the end, but it was missed by Jamie Vardy. Tielemens also got booked, so he only got one point, decisions, eh? Saturday did not fare much better for my midfield as Wolves' Diogo Jota got the default two points in their defeat. Sunday bore fruit, and kept me from what for certain would have been not just my worst points tally of the season, but my worst ever points total. In the aforementioned Liverpool 2-0 win over Chelsea, Mo Salah (who was my captain), and Sadio Mane both scored, without their combined 25 points, I would have had only 10 points, 'yuck!'. Salah's spectacular strike merited 3 bonus points, but he got none however.

Up front was horrible to look at. Wolves defeat left Raul Jimenez with one point, as like Tielemens, he was booked, 'thanks Raul mate', 'no mask this week no?!' Vardy, as I previously stated missed what a chance that for someone of his quality was food and drink, in Leicester's home loss to Newcastle. Sergio Aguero was not on the scoresheet for Man City. and I did not really care to be honest. In a utopian society, he would score, but City would lose all their remaining games, so Liverpool can win the title.
