The September team of the month is here. The formation is 3-5-2 this month and even with the packed midfield, a couple of midfielders were unlucky not to make the cut. Remember the players are in the positions they occupy in the Premier League’s official ‘Fantasy Premier League’.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Goalkeeper
Robin Roefs (Sunderland)
Not many would have known about the Black Cats’ new keeper, however they are quickly learning now. Roefs has made 20 saves this season (3rd in the league), and 13 of those saves came in September. He has already kept 3 clean sheets this campaign as Regis Le Bris’ men ended September in the dizzy heights of 5th place. Roefs’ best performance came in he goalless draw at Crystal Palace where he made great saves to deny Jean Philippe Mateta (twice), as well as Marc Guehi and Daichi Kamada.

Defenders
Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal)
Gabriel had a solid month as he helped put Arsenal back in the title race. His organisation of the back four was crucial and he steadied the ship to open the month when William Saliba was out injured. The Brazilian finished the month in the best way possible with the winning goal in a tense game with Newcastle scoring an injury time header. He is joint-1st in the league in blocks with 9 as well as being 9th in passes with 362.
Omar Aldrete (Sunderland)
Sunderland will have been tipped for the drop by many, but they currently occupy one of the European places. They have brought in many new faces and sometimes that can backfire, however so far, so good, as they have kept three clean sheets in six. Alderete is one of those new men and he is joint-4th in the Premier League in interceptions with 10. The Paraguayan concluded the month heading in the winning goal as Sunderland won 1-0 at Nottingham Forest.
Marcos Senesi (Bournemouth)
Bournemouth’s defence from last season was ripped apart, you would never recognise that though as they are 6th in the league heading into October, and Senesi is a huge part of that. The Argentine assisted Eli Kroupi to salvage a massive point at Leeds to wrap the month up. Senesi is 2nd in interceptions with 13 (1st among defenders), 2nd in clearances with 52, 6th in touches 486 and 8th in passes with 363. After the exodus he is vital to them.
Midfielders
Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)
The defending champions have not been firing on all cylinders despite collecting crucial points, nevertheless Gravenberch stuck out from their midfielders. He was arguably the best player on the pitch as the Reds won late on at Burnley, 1-0. He then scored a fantastic opener from a delightful Mo Salah pass against Everton, before his lovely pass assisted the second goal for Hugo Ekitike in a 2-1 victory. The Dutchman was also involved in Federico Chiesa’s goal in the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth)
Semenyo’s importance to Andoni Iraola is undeniable. It is not just his attacking returns but also the fact that he works tirelessly for the team. Semenyo is in fact joint-3rd in duels won in the league with 43. He began the month assisting Alex Scott against Brighton, before scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot in the second half. The Cherries’ last September game came away at Leeds and the Ghanaian’s low free-kick opened the scoring in a 2-2 draw.

Jaidon Anthony (Burnley)
Despite the Clarets having only been able to claim one win so far this campaign, Anthony has been a standout. He is one of three players on 4 Premier League goals and 2 of them came in September. First, he scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest as his close range shot was deflected in. It turned out to be scant consolation, but he swept in from close range in the 5-1 mauling at Manchester City.
Yankuba Minteh (Brighton)
Minteh has started the season in explosive fashion causing problems cutting onto his left foot on the right-hand side. His month started with his cross providing the leveller away at Bournemouth for Kaoru Mitoma. The Gambian international is joint-5th in duels won with 41 showing his willing work rate too. He then rounded Guglielmo Vicario to give the Seagulls the lead at home to Tottenham in a 2-2 draw. Minteh was to assist again this time for Danny Welbeck to level things up as they went on to beat 10-man Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Jeremy Doku (Manchester City)
Doku’s dribbling ability has never been in question; the issue was his decision making. He has started off the 2025/26 campaign piecing things together much more efficiently and he is presently unstoppable. In the Manchester Derby, he assisted Phil Foden after a great run, and then fed Erling Haaland with a fine pass in a dominant 3-0 win. At the end of the month, the Belgian international’s probing saw him help to force an own goal to open the scoring in the 5-1 triumph over Burnley, he then setup Erling Haaland for the fourth goal.
Forwards
Nick Woltemade (Newcastle)
Newcastle’s main replacement for Alexander Isak has begun Premier League life well. He scored on his debut with a header from a good cross by Jacob Murphy as the Magpies edged out Wolves 1-0 at home. He was not at his best in the goalless draw at Bournemouth; however, he ended the month scoring again. Woltemade’s towering header gave Eddie Howe’s men the lead before they fell 2-1 to Arsenal at St James’ Park. Heading is not even considered to be his strongest attribute despite his height, so Newcastle fans could be in for a treat.
Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
Haaland’s deadly start to the season continues. He is now on 8 league goals, 4 clear of anyone else. The Norwegian hitman scored five times in September. First, he bagged a brace against Manchester United with two clinical finishes. He then netted a fine breakaway goal in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal. He left it late against Burnley as he was at the double again with goals in the 90th and 93rd minute from close range. If he stays fit, he may pass 40 league goals.
