The last alternative team of the month of 2025 is here. December’s team takes on a 3-4-3 formation, and the spoiler is the Premier’s League leading scorer did not make the cut. Remember the players are in the positions they occupy in the Premier League’s official ‘Fantasy Premier League’.
Goalkeeper
Jordan Pickford (Everton)
Everton picked up 10 points in December, as Pickford kept the most clean sheets of any keeper with four in six matches. He made 13 saves in the process and his 51 saves in total this season have him joint-7th. The last match of the month was a 2-0 away win at Nottingham Forest and is where he was the busiest as he made six saves. This included a late denial of Morgan Gibbs-White otherwise it would have been a tense ending.
Defenders
Josko Gvardiol (Manchester City)
Gvardiol has been mainly used as a centre back this season after flourishing at left back predominantly since joining Manchester City. He has improved as the campaign as gone on and December displayed this. He also contributed decisively to the attack which is the main point of his inclusion. He scored a header from a corner against Sunderland in a 3-0 win. The month ended with his header down from another set piece finding Rayan Cherki to win the match at Nottingham Forest.
James Tarkowski (Everton)
Tarkowski is ever dependable at the back for the Toffees, and he had another stellar month. He helped David Moyes’ men to four clean sheets with some commanding displays at the back. He could also have ended the month with a goal as he headed a good chance wide in the 2-0 victory at Nottingham Forest. Overall, Tarkowski is 1st in the Premier League in blocks with 28, 5th in clearances with 133 and 7th in duels won with 114.
Piero Hincapie (Arsenal)
With injuries to Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, Arsenal needed someone to step up, and Hincapie did so as the Gunners stayed top of the table. He filled in as the left-sided centre half and then as a left back in December when Riccardo Califiori got injured. His only real blemish was probably the away defeat at Aston Villa otherwise his determined defensive work showed Mikel Arteta he can rely on him when needed.
Midfielders
Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa)
Rogers came into the season carrying an injury, now he is fully fit we are seeing the best of him. A tremendous ball over the top saw him assist Ollie Watkins’ first goal in the 4-3 win at Brighton. Rogers got a brace as Unai Emery’s side came from behind to beat West Ham 3-2 at the London Stadium, his second was a stunning finish from range. As Villa’s winning streak continued, he scored another double in the home win over Manchester United. His first was one of the goals of the campaign thus far, curling in from the angle of the box.

Phil Foden (Manchester City)
When Foden is firing you will rarely see Manchester City lose. The Cityzens’ month started with Foden at the double in a thrilling 5-4 away win at Fulham. His first goal was a brilliant hit into the top corner from the edge of the box. The England international then scored and assisted in a 3-0 home victory over Sunderland. He also got a critical second goal with a fine finish in the 3-0 dispatching of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park after the Eagles had looked lively.
Harry Wilson (Fulham)
Wilson had an excellent month helping the Cottagers gain 9 points. They started off badly with a crazy 5-4 defeat at home to Manchester City, however Wilson assisted twice. Fulham lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace, where he scored arguably the goal of the season thus far rounding off a slick team move with a glorious finish with the outside of his foot. In the 3-2 away triumph at Burnley he assisted the first two goals and then slotted in the third. The month concluded with him assisting Raul Jimenez’s winner at West Ham.
Rayan Cherki (Manchester City)
Cherki is now seeing more game-time and the French international is producing. Cherki tops the league in assists along with Bruno Fernandes with 7 overall. He setup Ruben Dias for a thunderbolt against Sunderland, and then his rabona provided a header for Phil Foden to make it 3-0. He then assisted Foden again in the 3-0 win at Crystal Palace. His December ended with a match-winning performance at Nottingham Forest. He found Tijani Reijnders for the first goal. His late low effort from a corner was to win the game 2-1.
Forwards
Hugo Ekitike (Liverpool)
Ekitike was on fire in December and with Alexander Isak picking up a bad injury, he will need to keep that form up for the Reds. He scored a double at Leeds in a 3-3 draw. He then copped another brace as Arne Slot’s men beat Brighton 2-0 at Anfield. The first was a lovely strike as early as the first minute. He leaped above Cristian Romero to put the Reds 2-0 up at Tottenham in a 2-1 victory. Liverpool completed the month with a 2-1 win against Wolves and Ekitike’s great play saw him assist Florian Wirtz for the second goal.
Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
Watkins’ contributions in limited minutes in December saw him keep the Premier League’s top scorer Erling Haaland out of the team. The month began with him scoring twice as Unai Emery’s side came from behind to beat Brighton 4-3. In a 2-1 win over Manchester United he showed good awareness to lay on the second goal for Morgan Rogers. He came off the bench to score twice once again as Villa got another important win away at Chelsea. He also scored a consolation in the 4-1 beating they suffered at Arsenal.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Leeds)
Calvert-Lewin showed he is not done at the top level with 6 goals in 5 games. First, he got the last goal in a big 3-1 win over Chelsea. He then scored a penalty as Leeds came from behind to draw 3-3 at home with Liverpool. Next game, his towering header salvaged a point at Brentford. He bagged a brace with two close range finishes in a 4-1 home triumph over Crystal Palace. He then helped Daniel Farke’s men to another away point with a proper striker’s goal in the 1-1 draw at Sunderland.
